Registrations are now being taken for all students attending public schools in Grades 1 to 8.
The forms are at the bottom of this page, or call our office at 201-387-0080.
All who have been in the program, and have completed work for the past year, are asked to complete the form and send it to the office with your fee for the coming year so we can see who is returning in September. We are now into the middle of the summer, so we would like to have an organized system, ready to start for our Religious Education program --- known as:
S.A.R.E.H. (Sunday Alternative for Religious [email protected] Home)
This coming Catechetical Year of 2022-2023 promises to be a wonderful and enjoyable year
of growth and love in the Lord, for everyone involved!
The program this year will involve meeting on a bi-weekly basis, with one of those meetings a month, for Grades 1,3,4,5, and 6, being held in class with a Catechist and a Classroom Aide. The program is incorporating this change due to the suggestions presented by parents on the last years Evaluation Forms. The students in Grades 2, 7 and 8 will be meeting with Catechists
every other week with their parents.
Please think and pray about volunteering to assist in these positions, as a means of sharing the gift of Faith and Love with our young parishioners. When you give, you receive! It is often a
life-changing experience --- one that I can personally attest to!

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS:
Registration and a calendar of classes are sent to all students in Grades 1 to 8. On the first day of class, grade level books are distributed in their classrooms. Parents are given access codes and information regarding the textbook website.
Children and parents of those in Grades 1,3,4,5 and 6 meet in the Church as a mixed group once a month. The second meeting of the children in these grades takes place on the every other Sunday in grade level classrooms with a Catechist and a Classroom Aide. Parents of children in these grades only attend once a month with their child(ren). The mixed group meeting and the classroom meetings following coffee and cake after the 10 AM Mass, by 11:05 AM. From 11:10 AM to 11:50 AM a Master Catechist teaches the mixed group in the Church. When the Catechists teach in the classrooms the classes start at 11:10 AM and last until 12:30 PM. This provides a direct grade level learning environment every other week. The lessons are an interactive approach, providing the basic theology of two consecutive chapters.
Parents then go through the pages of the child’s book at home during the two weeks ahead, explaining the teaching and completing one chapter each week for a half hour with each of their children in the program. The books used in all grades are from
Our Sunday Visitor---Alive in Christ.
Attendance is taken at each gathering and each class session, and student books are checked and given stickers of approval by Classroom Aides.
Sacramental Program - Grade 2:
Following the 10 AM Mass and refreshments, at 11:10 AM, all second graders and their parents are asked to follow their Catechists and Classroom Aides to their classrooms in the school. There, the Classroom Aides checks their books and the Catechists provide the lessons of the week on the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist with the parents, who then see to the completion of the lesson at home.
Grades 7 & 8 – Confirmation:
Following the 10 AM Mass and refreshments, at 11:10 AM, the 7th & 8th Grade students and parents go directly to their classrooms in the Parish Center with their Catechists and Classroom Aides. The Catechists and Aides will take them through their themed booklets and Confirmation Material, as well as work to be done in the next two weeks at home. The 8th grade students will also meet once a month beginning in October between the gatherings on Sundays. In this manner, the 8th Grade students will have a greater in-depth preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
For this SAREH program to be the very best it can be, faithful attendance at Mass and at the bi-weekly meetings is very important as is the completion and discussion of the work at home.
SAREH is truly a COMMITMENT but one worth the time and effort, and is filled with many Family blessings.
